David, Jacques-Louis
(1748-1825)
   Born in Paris on 30 August 1748, sculptor Jacques-Louis David, a regicide in voting for the execution of King Louis XVI, was invited by King William I to the Netherlands, following the Restoration in 1815. He settled in Brussels in 1816, where he lived on rue Léopold and maintained a workshop on rue de l'Evêque. He painted a copy of The Coronation of Napoléon I at the Hôtel de Ville in 1821. David died on 29 December 1825 in Brussels.
